South Africa’s Intact Software Distribution, which is being pursued by Nasdaq-listed supplier of cyber security solutions Cognosec AB, has opened a local office in Nairobi, Kenya, to better service its growing African reseller base.

The South Africab IT security software distributor has hired Nathan Wohoro to run the Kenyan operations.

Wohoro has many years’ experience in the local market, and boasts an in-depth knowledge of both the market and of security solutions. He will be responsible for overseeing business development, and will work closely with local Intact partners and end-users throughout Kenya, and the region as a whole.

Intact Software Distribution will be offering its full range of products, including Avira, Bitdefender, F-Secure, Kaspersky Lab, Avast, Iron Tree, Group IB, and Cybonet.

Simon Campbell-Young, CEO of Intact, says this expansion into East Africa is part of the distributor’s ongoing growth strategy.

“Kenya is a rich and exciting economy and is very much under-represented in terms of security tools and solutions.”

He adds that the move is a strategic one, as offices in Nairobi will be perfectly placed to service the region as a whole.

Intact provides a focused approach to support and technical knowledge transfer in association with the channel, and in Kenya, will be working through several partners who will supply end users and businesses.

“We are thrilled to be expanding our footprint into Africa. The market has shown continued maturity towards security tools and solutions, and Intact is focused on customer satisfaction, and will use its best-in-class solutions to meet clients’ needs and requirements,” Campbell-Young says.

Cognosec AB – which has operations in Europe, Africa and the Middle East – has signed an exclusive agreement with Intact Software Distribution to buy 100% of the South African business.

The deal is subject to legal, financial and technology due diligence exercises.

The deal will include the acquisition of 100% of outstanding shares for R3.7 million (€255,000)  comprised of R741753.96 (€51,000) cash and R2.9 million (€204,000) Cognosec AB new issue shares.

Intact Software Distribution complements the recent acquisition of A-TEK DISTRIBUTION by Cognosec and is positioned as a New Age Distribution Business, enabling global access to the vast Enterprise & SME markets with Pay-as-you-Use and Software-as-a-Service cyber security solutions.

The technology platform provides significant scalability and global advantages through innovative distribution methodologies.
