During our trip, this week to Japan for the #NissanIntelligentMobility Tour 2017, journalists from several countries from Africa, Middle East, India, and Latin America region undertook a series of engagements to get a better understanding of Nissan’s various innovations and smart solutions.

Guided by the vision of mobility for all, Nissan has embarked upon a strategy to deliver a comprehensive series of innovations that will make transportation safer, smarter, and more enjoyable with the goal of achieving zero emissions and zero fatalities.

Nissan is bringing many of these innovations from luxury segments to compact and high volume models and ensuring everyone has access to the benefits and making cars exciting partners for all our customers.

Nissan Intelligent Mobility encompasses three core areas of innovation:

  • Nissan Intelligent Driving helps to give customers more confidence in enhanced safety, control, and comfort for everyone on board. The building blocks for autonomous driving are already built into Nissan cars with an extensive set of advanced safety features including Intelligent Around-View Monitor and Intelligent Lane Intervention. Autonomous drive technologies can already be found in certain Nissan vehicles today, including the Nissan Serena, the first model produced for the mass market to feature ProPILOT technology.
  •  Nissan Intelligent Power makes driving more exciting for customers by continuing to reduce emissions and increase fuel economy. Nissan is committed to a holistic approach to achieving zero-emission mobility by making internal combustion engines more efficient and putting more advanced technologies into our electric vehicles.
  • Nissan Intelligent Integration keeps customers more connected by conveniently linking Nissan cars to the wider society. Nissan is helping to shape a sustainable ecosystem enabling cars to interact with people, other cars, and road infrastructure.  This approach will eventually lead to remote vehicle operation, reduced traffic jams, more efficient car-sharing, and improved energy management.

Nissan Intelligent Mobility is not about removing humans from the driving experience. Instead, it’s about building a better future for Nissan customers where cars are their partners, and where drivers are more confident and more connected.

Nissan LEAF NISMO RC

The LEAF NISMO RC combines the accessible performance philosophy of NISMO, the brand’s performance arm, with the world’s first affordable mass-market electric vehicle. The outcome was the Nissan LEAF NISMO RC, a bespoke track-ready carbon fibre prototype with a 100% zero-emission lithium-ion powertrain.

Nissan e-POWER

Last November (2016), Nissan introduced its new drive system called e-POWER on its popular Note compact family model in Japan. It marks the first time that e-POWER technology is available for consumers, marking a significant milestone in the electrification strategy under Nissan Intelligent Mobility.

Unlike the LEAF, e-POWER adds a small gasoline engine to charge the high-output battery when necessary, eliminating the need for an external charger while offering the same high-output.

LEAF to Home System

The “LEAF to Home” power supply system is designed to supply electricity from batteries on board Nissan LEAF and e-NV200 electric vehicles (EV) to homes when used with the “EV Power Station” unit.

Nissan Caravan Camping

Based on Nissan’s NV350 Caravan DX (Wide Body/High Roof), the NV350 Caravan Camping is equipped with a high-capacity lithium-ion battery system (12kWh), utilising innovative EV technologies in the all-electric Nissan LEAF. The lithium-ion battery is designed to power in-vehicle electric appliances, such as air conditioner, microwave, or television, giving customers a more comfortable and smarter camping experience than before.

Nissan Navara EnGuard Concept: The ultimate all-terrain rescue pick-up with portable EV battery power

Based on a Double Cab version of the Nissan Navara – the Navara EnGuard Concept is packed with vital equipment suitable for emergency and disaster recovery work, including an advanced drone to provide vital intelligence about what dangers rescue crews might face.

It also marks the world debut of a prototype portable battery pack, designed, and developed by Nissan. It utilises the brands tried and tested EV battery technology, already available on the road in the 100-percent electric Nissan LEAF   and e-NV200.

Nissan’s New Mobility Concept Vehicle Car Sharing Service

In March, Nissan and the City of Yokohama introduced a round-trip carsharing service featuring the Nissan New Mobility Concept, an ultra-compact electric vehicle.

The service, “Choimobi Yokohama,” enables users who register online to pick up and return cars in 14 locations around Yokohama Station. Cars can be reserved 30 minutes in advance and can be driven within the city.

Nissan Serena ProPILOT

The new Nissan Serena is equipped with ProPILOT, a revolutionary autonomous drive technology designed for highway use in single-lane traffic. Nissan is the first Japanese automaker to introduce a combination of steering, accelerator and braking that can be operated in fully automatic mode, easing driver workload in heavy highway traffic and long commutes.
