A new South African two-in-one booking app plans to compete with Uber

A new driver app is aiming to compete with Uber by enabling you to easily book a taxi (Rideshare service) or get a designated driver (Chauffeur) to get home safely in the comfort of your own car.

The Driver App is launching soon.

This new proudly South African, TWO-IN-ONE booking app, was developed and managed by Scooter Angels, SA’s Designated Driver Service.

“Using our years of fleet and driver management, we aim to deliver the same above average service that thousands of South Africans have become accustomed to,” said the company. “Get a ride in minutes with the Driver app. We‘ll take you places in your car or ours.”

The Designated Driver Service will be initially available in Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Durban, East London, George, Johannesburg, Nelspruit, Pietermaritzburg, Port Elizabeth and Pretoria. This will cost R 75.00/ base fare and R13/kilometre and

The taxi service, which will cost R10/base fare, R8/kilometre and R1/minute, will be initially available in Cape Town.

How it works

• Select the service type: Open the app, see how far the Closet Driver is, and request a Driver to drive you in your car or ours!
• Enter pickup & destination address: For your convenience, the Pickup Address is already populated with your Current Location and at the tap of a button you can populate the Destination address with your stored Home Address.
• Get an estimate then book for now or later: View your Trip Estimate upfront, then select Book Now to get connected to the closest available driver, or schedule a future ride.
• Stay updated: See who your driver is, watch them approach in real time with live ETA updates!
