Turrito Networks, a division of JSE-listed investment group MICROmega, has snapped up a majority stake in IT support specialist company Dial a Nerd for an undisclosed amount. By Staff Writer

The full Dial a Nerd staff complement of 65 employees will be retained as part of the acquisition and will take Turrito Networks to just over 100 employees, nationwide.

“We wanted to be the first service provider to encompass every aspect of IT for the SME (small medium enterprises) customer – from managed desktop and LAN solutions through to high-speed connectivity and converged communications. This acquisition makes that all possible, and positions us as the SME partner of choice for everything IT – an end-to-end service provider that takes responsibility for it all,” says Brian Timperley, managing director of Turrito Networks.

Over the next five years, Turrito Networks and Dial a Nerd are planning significant growth, both in terms of footprint and organisational size, as well as breadth and variety of services.

“Turrito Networks has a company ethos that mirrors ours, and holds customer service as highly as we do.  This combined with best fit services and solutions, meant this acquisition would ultimately benefit our collective customer base,” adds Colin Thornton, co-managing director at Dial a Nerd.

Both Colin and Aaron Thornton will remain at the helm of the Dial a Nerd business, working alongside the Turrito Networks leadership team of Timperley and Louis Jardim.

“After almost two decades of providing IT support, we’re ready to take the business to the next level, and this partnership presents some incredible synergies which will benefit our customers and provide the impetus to get there” says Aaron Thornton, co-managing director at Dial a Nerd.
