Disney+ announced that it has introduced a new Disney+ app in South Africa, offering new features and updates for customers. The new app brings more personalised recommendations, an enhanced viewing experience and new parental controls, while continuing to offer the same great content customers already enjoy.
What customers can expect
Disney+ customers will be prompted to download the new app and sign in using their existing account credentials. On-screen prompts will guide them through account confirmation and profile setup.
Customers will continue to enjoy the same great content they know and love on Disney+, including stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, Hulu and FX, alongside blockbuster movies, hit TV shows, local originals and live content.
Popular titles available to Disney+ customers in South Africa include hit TV shows such as “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Modern Family,” “The Simpsons,” “Only Murders in the Building” and “The Kardashians,” alongside FX’s “The Shards” and “High Potential,” and blockbuster movies including 20th Century Studios’ “The Devil Wears Prada 2” and “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” and “Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu.”

What’s new for customers
The new Disney+ app delivers a more personalised and intuitive streaming experience, featuring a dynamic homepage, simplified navigation, and recommendations inspired by what customers enjoy watching and what’s popular in their country. The updated experience makes it easier to discover content across Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN, while also highlighting the latest movies, series, live events, and originals.
The app also now supports up to 25 audio and subtitle languages, plus high-quality video and sound on supported devices. Customers will also have access to the new Junior Mode that includes expanded parental controls, including profile PIN protection, customisable content ratings, and account notifications for profile changes to create a more family-friendly viewing experience. Customers can also now take Disney+ with them wherever they go*, enjoying their favourite titles across supported devices at home and while traveling
Customers will have until 12 October to move to the new Disney+ app, following which the current app will not be available. Mobile customers will be migrated to the new Basic plan, giving them increased device access including TV’s. Customers will be able to sign up to the Basic plan through MTN, with details on the availability to be shared in due course.
