In a defining moment for South African innovation, homegrown health-tech pioneer Khoi Tech has captured international attention after representing the nation at London Tech Week 2025, one of the world’s most prestigious technology gatherings.

The Soweto-based company joined fellow South African innovators Smartee and XDOY in demonstrating Africa’s burgeoning tech potential to global investors and industry leaders, including during a high-profile engagement with London Mayor Sadiq Khan.

From Local Roots to Global Recognition

The South African delegation’s participation was made possible through a strategic collaboration between the British High Commission and South Africa’s Department of Telecommunications and Digital Technologies via its Digitech Programme

. Craig Meyer, Director-General of the Department, emphasised the significance of this achievement, stating, “This is what the Digitech programme is all about—creating global opportunities for South African innovators. Khoi Tech, Smartee and XDOY proved that our country has what it takes to compete at the highest level.”

Transforming Healthcare Through African Innovation

Khoi Tech has emerged as a leader in AI-driven health solutions with its groundbreaking product suite that includes the Khoi Afriwatch smartwatch and Khoi Afripods wireless earphones. These devices integrate with a sophisticated SaaS health platform currently being tested at major South African hospitals, clinics and academic institutions.

The technology provides real-time health monitoring and predictive analytics designed to improve medical outcomes and alleviate pressure on overburdened public health systems.

Founder and CEO Seati Moloi articulated the company’s mission, saying, “We’re not just building devices; we’re building solutions for underserved communities. London Tech Week was a moment of validation—global audiences are ready for African innovation.”

Charting a Course for Continental Expansion

Building on its successful international debut, Khoi Tech is now pursuing ambitious growth strategies including expansion into public health markets across Africa and establishing strategic technology partnerships in Europe and Asia.

The company is also advancing development of next-generation AI-powered health wearables and advanced analytics tools.

Khoi Tech’s international breakthrough carries profound implications, demonstrating that world-class technology can emerge from township environments like Soweto.

The exposure has created valuable pathways for foreign investment and scaling opportunities while positioning South Africa as a leader in Africa’s digital transformation.

The company’s participation in London Tech Week has opened doors for Pan-African expansion and global partnerships.

Khoi Tech’s health monitoring solutions are already making an impact in South Africa’s healthcare sector. The successful showcase highlights the growing international recognition of Africa’s tech innovation capabilities. Through initiatives like the Digitech Programme, South African startups are gaining unprecedented access to global platforms and opportunities.
