The flagship new Range Rover Sport SV has ignited significant demand among South African clients, with all 35 limited-edition Range Rover Sport SV EDITION ONE units being fully reserved upon order opening.

According to the Land Rover website, Range Rover SV retails for more than R4.4 million, suggesting that a Limited-Edition Range Rover Sport SV EDITION ONE will cost even more. Based on this price, it indicates that affluent South Africans are ready to spend approximately R154 million to acquire these exclusive vehicles.

Jaguar Land Rover South Africa’s Product and Pricing Manager, Janico Dannhauser, mentioned in a statement that close to 200 clients expressed interest in the limited-edition new Range Rover Sport SV EDITION ONE. Thus, if we consider the retail price of the Range Rover SV, it implies that wealthy South Africans are willing to invest about R880 million to purchase 200 units of the limited-edition new Range Rover Sport SV EDITION ONE.

The limited-edition new Range Rover Sport SV EDITION ONE is described by Dannhauser as representing the pinnacle of luxury and performance in the SUV segment.

“It’s a culmination of decades of innovation and engineering excellence, delivering an unparalleled driving experience for our discerning customers. They’ll be among the first in South Africa to experience an impressive number of segment and brand firsts that make this model the benchmark for ultimate modern luxury performance SUVs.”

At the heart of the Range Rover Sport SV is a powerhouse engine – a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged MHEV V8 that produces a combined 467 kW and 750 N.m of torque. This makes it the most powerful Range Rover Sport ever produced, propelling it from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds, with a top speed of 290 km/h. It’s a testament to the brand’s commitment to performance and capability.

However, the SV Edition One is more than just raw power; it also showcases cutting-edge technology and innovative design features that elevate the driving experience to new heights.

“We’ve incorporated advanced features like the world’s first 23-inch carbon fibre wheels and optional carbon ceramic brakes to enhance performance and handling,” explains Dannhauser. “These technologies not only improve acceleration and responsiveness but also contribute to a more agile and dynamic driving experience.”

The new Range Rover Sport SV’s world-first 6D Dynamics suspension system is the most sophisticated in its class, debuting a combination of hydraulic interlinked dampers, height-adjustable air springs, and pitch control. The revolutionary semi-active system eliminates the need for conventional anti-roll bars, dramatically reducing pitch and roll to maintain a near-level body stance during extreme cornering, heavy acceleration, and hard braking. This system also reduces weight, increases grip, and benefits comfort and refinement.

The 6D Dynamics suspension works seamlessly with a suite of advanced chassis and suspension systems. Unique SV-tuned settings are applied to the Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, All-Wheel Steering, Torque Vectoring by Braking, Configurable Dynamics, and Active Locking Rear Differential to deliver a more focused, sports car-like driving experience – especially in the all-new driver-selectable SV Mode.

Additionally, it features specially developed chassis components, including a new rear subframe and new suspension links with revised geometry and compliance. A new electronically power-assisted steering rack has the fastest ratio of any Range Rover to date, enhancing agility and feel.

For the first time on a Range Rover, 305-section rear tyres are fitted, which are 20mm wider than the 285-section front tyres. This setup, with standard-fit Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tyres, enables a rear-biased dynamic setup enhancing grip, stability, and traction. Increased rear roll stiffness also helps deliver immediate steering responses.

Demonstrating the combined benefits of these technologies, the new Range Rover Sport SV can generate lateral acceleration in excess of 1.1G on all-season tyres, comparable to track-focused sports cars.
