The global EO market was valued at almost $3 millions in 2019 and is growing. It’s expected to be valued at about $5 millions in three years. In addition to the rising value, the interest in the opportunities the satellites give is also increasing. Satellite technologies transform many industries, providing companies with data that helps to find innovative solutions for business improvement and sustainable development. For example, satellite crop monitoring enables farmers to be aware of all changes and threats to their fields to prevent crop loss.

Satellite data is more available than ever and is highly demanded by different business sectors and governments. Market newcomers provide access to valuable information through the small constellations of satellites, launched into low Earth Orbit. They also implement vertically integrated business model.

The majority of the population in Africa is engaged in agriculture. At the same time, farmers are primarily men. However, thanks to technological development, more women get a chance to take their positions in the agri-sector, as the fields’ analytics are available in a few clicks. It can be achieved by providing people with knowledge of crop monitoring systems and the proper tools. It’s also vital to give growers Internet access. In these conditions, both men and women can be involved in farming.

EOSDA Partnership With TelOne

EOS Data Analytics delivers satellite imagery analytics using artificial intelligence technologies. The company works with more than 20 industries worldwide, including agriculture and forestry. EOSDA partners with many organizations and has announced a partnership with TelOne.

Agricultural land covers 85% of Zimbabwe’s territory. It is the main business of the country and a source of income for the population. Furthermore, farming has a significant share of the economy. Despite this, food security in the region is under threat. The introduction of technologies and innovative solutions is necessary for this region to improve the well-being of people and the country’s development.

TelOne is a digital solutions provider and communications provider owned by the government of Zimbabwe. The company’s activities aim to introduce digital components into society and the economy to make it more sustainable. The partnership with EOS Data Analytics will enable TelOne to help farmers and government support and grow communities and economies.

Rapid digital transformation is vital as humanity is undergoing rapid change today. The parties involved in agriculture in Zimbabwe and other African countries should be aware of the importance of and support the introduction of digital technologies in this sector, as Africa should become a global center of agrotechnologies. This benefits both farming communities and countries as a whole. Brijesh Thoppil, director of strategic partnerships in EOSDA tells that EOS Data Analytics and TelOne partnership will benefit Zimbabwe’s agricultural development.

As part of its partnership with EOSDA, TelOne will receive a professional subscription to EOSDA Crop Monitoring, an online crop monitoring satellite service for precision agriculture.

About EOSDA Crop Monitoring Software for the precision agriculture

EOSDA Crop Monitoring is a satellite monitoring solution that enables users to track crop health at every growth stage. It is an all-in-one solution that helps to detect and solve farm issues on time and minimize damage. Thanks to reliable forecasts and historical weather data (since 1979), growers can analyze the climate patterns to improve plant protection measures and plan field activities. Weeds, pests and crop disease monitor are also possible with this online platform.

EOSDA Crop Monitoring users can apply vegetation and productivity maps for the variable-rate application of different resources, including seeds. It helps to reduce costs and allocate resources more rationally to increase field productivity. NDVI and other satellite-derived indices provide valuable information on the plants’ state that also helps growers to make effective and timely decisions.

Some agribusiness participants may be less informed than others which significantly complicates the processes on the farm. EOSDA Crop monitoring helps to solve this problem through the Team Account. Thanks to this account, farmers, owners, agronomists, scouts, and others can access crucial information equally. Follow EOSDA Crop Monitoring on Twitter and Facebook.
