Uncapped LTE

SmartBroadband Wireless Unlimited All Hours & Business Hours shall be available on a 24-month deal contract and as a SIM-only offer.

Subscribers who sign up for a deal contract shall receive a SIM card and an LTE/LTE-A WiFi router with the SmartBroadband Wireless Unlimited All Hours & Business Hours services.

Telkom’s LTE network currently supports voice calls and is activated by default to make and receive voice calls using the standard Plain Old Telephone Service handset plugged into voice port at the back of the LTE/LTE-A WiFi Router. The voice calling out of bundle rate of R0.70 cents per minute (per-second billing) to all-networks applies.

Existing LTE subscribers that wish to migrate to the SmartBroadband Wireless Unlimited All Hours & Business Hours service can only do so by submitting their applications via the applicable sales channels.

Standard Fair Usage Policy applies across both the SmartBroadband Wireless Unlimited All Hours & Business Hours products whereby on the 1st of each month customers will receive 150 GB of data that allows for an up to 10Mbps speed and once the 150GB is depleted then an additional 50GB of data is provided at an up to 4Mbps speed and once the 50GB/4Mbps bundle has been depleted the service then provides unlimited data at an up to 2Mbps speed for the remainder of the month.

Peer to peer and NNTP type protocols are further speed restricted.

The SmartBroadband Wireless Unlimited Business Hours product will provide service strictly between Midnight – 5:00 pm 7 days per week.

Prepaid LTE

The LTE/LTE-A once-off bundles shall be available for purchase as once-off data bundles by SmartBroadband Wireless Prepaid subscribers, and existing post-paid subscribers which are: SmartBroadband Wireless Post-paid, SmartBroadband Wireless Top-Up, SmartBroadband Wireless Unlimited All Hours and SmartBroadband Wireless Unlimited Business Hours subscribers only.

The LTE/LTE-A once-off bundles shall have Anytime data and Night Surfer Data. Night Surfer shall be valid between 12 am – 7 am.

The data validity period for LTE/LTE-A Once Off Anytime data bundles shall be 61 days, excluding the anytime data for 5GB and 10GB which are valid for 31 days. i.e. LTE/LTE-A Once-off Anytime bundles shall expire 61 days from the date of activation and for the 5GB and 10GB shall expire 31 days from the date of activation.

The data validity period for LTE/LTE-A Once Off Night Surfer data bundles shall be 31 days, i.e. LTE/LTE-A Once-off Night Surfer bundles will expire 31 days from the date of activation.

There is no limit to the number of LTE/LTE-A Once-Off bundles that a subscriber can purchase in a month and First In First Out (FIFO) shall apply to the order of consumption.

No modems will be bundled with the LTE/LTE-A Once-off bundles and subscribers will have the freedom to use existing modems or buy a modem that suits their needs but should note that for best experience a Telkom Mobile certified and tested LTE hardware device should be used.

Unused Anytime data bundle will not be carried over once it expires.

A flat rate of R 2.75 on per-second billing basis will apply for any voice call on SmartBroadband Wireless Prepaid service, with exception of emergency services (10111, 10177 and 112) and Telkom helpdesk 081 180 which are free from a Telkom Mobile SIM card.

If any Telkom official is reading this:

Extend the 150GB cap to 300GB or make Night Surfer available after midnight without any of this 2Mbps capping.

Streaming is becoming a norm worldwide, and 150GB just isn’t fair considering you’re forcing people on ADSL lines to switch over to this LTE service, and ADSL doesn’t nearly have this kind of limit.

I mean we’re even in a pandemic right now, and you’re telling me 150GB is going to last an entire month with a family? It isn’t.

Don’t be selfish, Telkom. R899 p/m is A LOT of money for only R150GB at 10Mbps.

Been on this package since december 2018 and the price has been the same R899. Iv had several issues where 4g disconnects frequently. Support is terrible. Most of time i cant get over 6Mb on this line. For past 3 weeks iv gotten 0.5Mb and this would be fastest at 3am to 5am. Iv had enough of paying full R899 and nt getting what im paying for so i submitted to have my contract cancelled. Looking for a new SP any suggestions my area only allows LTE no fibre

Just to add. Both vodacom and mtn speedtests from mobile had proper speed ratings compared to telkom during the past 3wks.

    Hi all,
Please be aware I have the 80gb 299.00 bundle and it’s the worst deal in the country. I could only reach 1-2 mbps at all hours on speed test. anytime on the telkom lte network. They choke your service to death. I have neighbour’s on Voda and Mtn lte packages with 20 x the speed.

I have to agree with Cecil. I bought 120gb for R459 and I regret it. The speed is absolutely awful. I can’t do anything with this data. I can’t stream anything. I feel that these companies should make customers aware of the speed. This is unfair and uncalled for. It’s downright fraud.

I just bought the 100GB night surfer from Telkom and i am just here to warn others to beware of this scam. The speed is throttled to a point where i won’t even be able to finish 5% of this package. I cannot even stream anything, speeds are as low as 10Kb/s. It is not even about network coverage, i am not roaming or anything, i am on Telkom’s 4G network. Biggest rip off I’ve ever encountered.

I bought Telkom 5gig day & 5night data that’s worth R99 and I tell you they’re 4G network is cutting data most of the time or it will tell me my LTE SIM is off. I restart my phone more that 5 times a day but is not helping.
