The former president Jacob Zuma and ANC secretary general Ace Magashule have been linked to a new political party, the African Transformation Movement (ATM).
The Sunday Times reported that the Head of the SA Council of Messianic Churches in Christ Buyisile Ngqulwana has linked Zuma and Magashule to ATM.
The SA Council of Messianic Churches in Christ, claims to have 30 million members, and ATM wants to tap on this membership when it goes to the polls.
In an affidavit drawn up in support of an urgent electoral court application by the messianic council challenging the registration of the party, led by Mzwanele Manyi, Ngqulwana details “consultation sessions” with Zuma and Magashule about an alternative party to the Cyril Ramaphosa-led ANC, reports the Sunday Times.
In April 2018, the ATM applied for registration with the Independent Electoral Commission.
South Africa is due to hold elections on Wednesday, 8 May.
