Massmart recognised South Africa’s top-performing matriculants at the 2019 Ministerial Announcement of the National Senior Certificate Examination Results.
The results were officially announced yesterday, 3 January 2019 by the Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga.
At the ceremony, Massmart recognised students who obtained outstanding results during the 2018 academic year, despite difficult circumstances.
Massmart provided the top three achievers in quintiles 1, 2 and 3 with hampers to the value of R80 000. The hampers are aimed at assisting the students with transitioning from secondary to tertiary education.
Each hamper consists of the following products:
- Lenovo Mix 2-in-1 Windows Tablet that can act as a laptop;
- Microsoft Office 365 home software;
- Wi-Fi enabled Hewlett Packard 385 Deskjet Ink Advantage 4-in-1 Colour Inkjet Printer
- Seagate 5TB external hard drive
- Shox Byte Bluetooth speaker
- Logitech wireless computer mouse
- Massmart laptop backpack
“Since 2012 we have been working alongside the Department of Education to bridge the divide in education, particularly for those in our community who are the most disadvantaged.,” says Massmart chairman Kuseni Dlamini.
“Furthermore, we see these top-performing matriculants as victors who have showcased their ability to excel even in difficult circumstances. Massmart would like to congratulate these students on their outstanding achievements as we wish them continued success.”
